Under a grant from the U.S. Department of Education, Anne Arundel County Public Schools has created smaller learning units within four large, high poverty high schools. Thanks to RMC Research Corporation's evaluation, the program can show how it has boosted learning and achievement while improving the overall school climate.

RMC worked with the district and project staff to develop a logic model that guided implementation and evaluation. "The schools and the district have used RMC's evaluation findings to improve the project and to scale up the successful smaller learning communities initiatives to the other high schools," commented Sonia Jurich, director of the evaluation for RMC.
