RMC Arlington Assisting Maine with New Continuous Improvement System
RMC Arlington is working with the Maine Department of Education to implement a new accountability system-Continuous Improvement and Monitoring Program (CIMP)-under the 2004 Amendments to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
The CIMP district review process involves four major steps leading to an improvement corrective action plan: 1) data collection and comparison; 2) conducting record audit reviews; RMC has developed the self-assessments tools, the guidelines, and training for districts on how to develop the improvement plan. Working with MDOE, RMC developed and implemented the review procedures and templates with over 100 Maine school districts. The identified promising practices will be organized by RMC into a document for dissemination to districts in addition to identifying a set of research-based resources for each targeted IDEA Part B indicator. The ultimate goal of the new system is to assist districts and the State of Maine in improving the results for all students with disabilities. |
