Using Research to Develop Programs and Strategies

Effective Instructional Planning and Implementation in Reading

RMC Arlington works with national, state and local education agencies to implement literacy/reading programs that are proven to be effective. Our expertise covers programming for learners of all ages, from preschool through adult education.

RMC Arlington works with clients in several key areas:

Integrating evidence-based programs and strategies into the improvement planning process.

We guide educators through the process of designing and adopting comprehensive plans to improve reading instruction and student outcomes. The key steps in this process include:

    • Conducting a needs assessment to identify gaps
in services, curricula, teacher training, and
      assessment.

    • Aligning goals and objectives with federal, state
      and local standards.

    • Identifying current research to inform the design
      of instruction.

    • Developing monitoring processes related to
      implementation of the plan.

    • Using data to assess and support on-going
      implementation strategies.

Developing materials and training that support improvement efforts.

We provide customized technical assistance to help educators identify instructional resources and training needs.

    • Developing curriculum-review rubrics.

    • Establishing criteria for choosing core,
      supplemental, and intervention programs.

    • Developing targeted professional development
      related to client needs.
