RMC Arlington has worked with the Elkhart Indiana Title I schools on a parental involvement initiative. RMC's support for the initiative has focused on providing resources and professional development to the parent support coordinators and the assistant principals at the city's six Title I schools, and helping organize a District Parent Leadership Team (PLT).

Through the initiative, parents have learned about and provided input into the district improvement plan. PLT members have taken the lead in helping parents understand Title I Supplemental Education Services requirements for parental involvement. Parents have worked on action plans for increasing parent involvement in schools.

As a result of RMC's support, parental involvement in Elkhart has increased. The district will proudly share the success of the parent initiative at the 2009 Indiana Urban Schools Conference.
