Wrapping up the Smaller Learning Community Grant with the Anne Arundel County Public Schools, Maryland

For the past eight years, RMC Arlington has worked with the Anne Arundel County Public Schools in Maryland to evaluate the implementation and results of two Smaller Learning Communities Grants from the U.S. Department of Education.

RMC worked with the district and project staff to develop a logic model that guided implementation and evaluation. The evaluation accompanied the implementation of the project at each of the four participating schools, with a cross-analysis that focused on understanding the challenges of developing comprehensive school reforms in large, high poverty high schools.

"The schools and the district have used RMC's evaluation findings to improve the project and to scale up the successful smaller learning communities initiatives to the other high schools," commented Sonia Jurich, the Project Director.
